Don’t cry, sweethearts! It’s advent!
Or is that me after Christmas shopping?
Today’s advent calendar task is going to supply us with the wherewithal to greet the masses via snail mail. We’re going to create some holiday cards! Since some of our previous Frieda Kahlo Santa and Picasso Santa projects have been so successful, we’re going to keep creating Christmas Cards in the style of the masters. This time, we’re doing a panel of Santa or his familiars in the style of Roy Lichtenstein.
Today, I’ll ask the kids to draw single cartoon panels in ink featuring Santa or another Christmas familiar doing something pedestrian or even a little unexpected. Then, they’ll colour in the panels. And, they’ll “dot” over the coloured panels in a soft red to give it that screen printed look! Finally, they will add their slightly ironic festive text. We’ll scan these images and have them printed up as cards or print our own!
