It’s become an annual tradition! We visited Toronto’s Word on the Street on Sunday, returning to our old favourite booths, finding new must-see publishers and venues, and listening to some fabulous authors read from their work. Some of my own personal Word on the Street highs included: Listening to Adrienne Weiss read from There are No Solid Gold Dancers Anymore (Nightwood); catching a glimpse of Carrie Snyder reading from her new novel, Girl Runner (Anansi); peeking at Paul Vermeersch’s new book of poems (launching Thursday) at the ECW tent; having a first look at Christine Fischer Guy’s The Umbrella Mender at the Wolsak & Wynn tent; and catching up with Kitty Lewis at the Brick Books set up right alongside – my gosh, some of the book covers there were absolutely amazing!.
