With a hey, and a ho, and a hey nonino!
That o’er the green corn-field did pass
In the spring time, the only pretty ring time,
When birds do sing, hey ding a ding, ding:
Sweet lovers love the Spring.”
Today, we’re reading and illustrating the final two acts of Shakespeare’s As You Like It.
We’ll also design a “Book Cover” or “Title Page” for our projects.
Find your favourite picture in a book that’s not about the holidays. Draw or trace that picture and then add elements to make it “Christmassy.”
Draw a Christmas Wedding in the Woods. [Hint, the figures getting married don’t have to be people!]
Tell your parents a story about what Mrs. Claus does while Santa is out delivering presents.
With your parents reading or singing the song above, can you draw a picture inspired by that song?
It’s winter, draw a picture of Santa in the spring or summertime! Now can you tell me a story about it?
The BBC has made their fabulous “Complete Shakespeare” production of As You Like It available on YouTube!
If you want to see one of the only Shakespearean comedies where a marriage actually takes place on stage (as opposed to being promised or implied) you can not only read, but watch the wedding as it happens!!! [Did we mention, HELEN MIRREN!!!]
I’ll post them when they are available.
P.S.: Check back with us next Sunday for one final, bonus As You Like It post!!!
