“Under the greenwood tree
Who loves to lie with me,
And tune his merry note
Unto the sweet bird’s throat —
Come hither, come hither, come hither!”
Today, we’re reading and illustrating Act Two of As You Like It!
This Act contains some of the most scintillating speeches in all of Shakespeare, so get ready for some handsome illustrations!!
This week’s alternate ideas for the little ones:
Sing “Jingle Bells” and illustrate what happens in the song.
Draw a picture of the Gruffalo, Pooh Bear or another favourite storybook character in a Santa Suit.
Listen to this famous speech from As You Like It (the first two minutes of the video below) and try to draw 1 or 2 of the Seven Ages of Man! Don’t be fussy! And don’t worry about understanding! You might even choose a single word like “soldier” or “bubble” or “infant” to draw:
More substitutions to come in the following weeks!
And…another friendly reminder…
The BBC has made their fabulous “Complete Shakespeare” production of As You Like It available on YouTube!
So,you could also watch and read along!!!
Act II begins at the 33 minute mark!
