We’re lucky enough to have our “California Grandparents” here with us for the Thanksgiving weekend! So, on Friday, we rented a mini-van and sped out to our favourite Apple Picking spot, Applewood Farm Winery in Stouffeville, Ontario. Little did we know, they didn’t open until noon on Fridays, so we had an adventure in the town, first, stopping for an “early lunch” at the Fickle Pickle. The peameal bacon sandwich special was a big hit. As was the pickle signage. Then, we piled back into the van for a trip to our original destination for a sun-filled day of picking Cortlands and Honeygolds to our heart’s content. Grandpa and Grandma had also brought along a new camera to share with The Lunchbox Season, the Canon Rebel EOS SL1. And so we were able to take our first “test shots” in one of the most magical settings on the planet – the apple orchard in fall on a sunny day! When we got back from our adventures, we helped Grandma J make her first ever apple pie with none other than our famous Apple Pickin’ Pie with Disappearing Vodka Crust recipe.
Here are a two choice snaps, followed by two slide-shows we made of our day! Enjoy!
