With her class, Bea’s going away for a few nights to an awesome camp up north. She opted to take an alternate stuffed bear than her normal, at-home companions, which was great. Still, I wanted to find a way for her to keep her special friends with her without missing them too much. Also, I wanted to send her a few “love notes” of my own. With that in mind, I snuck into her room while she was at school the other day and took a few “candids” of her best stuffed friends. Then, I used some free online photo editing software [my current faves are ipiccy and fotoflexer] to add some fun text to the images. I tried to keep it upbeat – not so much the “We miss you” tack as the “Have a great time at camp,” “Hope the zip-line is fun” and “Snuggles for you” one – the kind of support she’ll appreciate. Then, I printed out the images on 4×6 photo paper and, when she wasn’t looking, snuck them into her bag beside her favourite new novel. If I end up doing this again with the kids, I might put the stuffies in some more interesting and humorous poses! This might also be fun for birthday cards and holiday gifts – maybe with little hints as to what’s inside the box!
