Today, the kids are going to make Silhouette Self-Portraits and send them to family members with handwritten holiday greetings and a few words about what they’ve been up to over the past few weeks inside.
Black Construction Paper
Pre-Printed Silhouettes Made from Digital Photographs [See my post: How to Make Silhouettes from Digital Photos Using Free Online Photo-Editing Tools & a Printer/Scanner]
Coloured Pencils/Crayons/Markers/Oil Pastels
Using white chalk, draw your silhouette on black paper. [It’s okay if it’s a bit strange looking!]
Follow the chalk line with your scissors to cut out the silhouette continuously – in one piece.
Glue the cut-out silhouette onto a piece of white paper.
Glue the black frame of the silhouette onto a second white piece of paper.
Print out a Pre-made Silhouette [See my post: How to Make Silhouettes from Digital Photos Using Free Online Photo-Editing Tools & a Printer/Scanner]
In the white space on each page, use your pencils etc. to write words and to draw pictures that say something about you.
Feel free to draw smaller self-portraits here, too!

Blank White Cards and Envelopes
Scan you Silhouette Self-Portraits into your computer and save them.
Resize a single image or a group of images so that it/they will print onto the face of your white card.
Print the image onto your card [or onto a piece of paper that you can glue onto the face of your card].
Add a message to the inside of your card before placing it into the envelope.
Address and stamp your envelope and send it away!
