You saw what a marathon our Christmas Season was!!
Let’s get on with the New Year’s celebrations!
Let’s knock this one out of the park!
For the past four years, we’ve been ringing in the New Year with a movie marathon: Sherlock Holmes, Lord Peter Wimsey, Dr. Who, and Alfred Hitchcock. This year, to top off an amazing fifth year on The Lunchbox Season, we’re going to host a 24 hour screening of Myrna Loy and William Powell Movies. Of course, we’re having a Thin Man Movie Marathon! We’ll be complementing the six “Thin Man” movies [the kids have already seen and absolutely adore the first two!] with a selection of movies from “Beyond the Thin Man,” i.e. films in which Loy and Powell appeared together. We’ll also offer a couple of “Solo Runs,” i.e. films in which Loy, Powell, and their beloved dog Asta shine individually. The potential playlist is below. We’re going to give the kids a list and let them decide how to schedule the films for the 24 hours between 12 noon on December 31st, 2015 and 12 noon on January 1st 2016.
[Special update! It looks as if Turner Classic Movies will be following our cue! You can watch all of the The Thin Man movies on TCM in the US and Canada beginning at 8pm on December 31st]

What will we eat?
For lunch, we’ll feast on an easy Antipasto buffet of italian sandwich meats, cheeses, and vegetables that we’ll pick up from the grocer! For supper, we’ll do as Nick and Nora do in After the Thin Man! We’ll order Chinese!! Oh, and we’ll make a batch of those amazing Chewy Brownies with Andes Mints we concocted last spring. And for breakfast, we’ll nibble on a sure hangover cure, a couple of homemade Parsnip Pecan Loaves!
What will we drink?
Martinis, for the parents, naturally! Line them up! We’ll both have six a piece!
For the kids, sparkling apple juice!
What will we do during the movies?
Aside from eating and drinking? This year, we’re going to get out some blank paper, charcoals and oil pastels and draw portraits of Nick, Nora, Asta, and the culprits or villains in each of the Thin Man Films! We’ll also run around the house trying to scare our schnauzer Elvis by doing our best impressions of that film-hunk, Asta!
So, if you’re looking for a way to ring in the new year, look no further!!
Happy New Year Everyone!
What? No Goodnight Kiss?
Okay, Alright!
You want a better one? That’s fine!
Thanks For Following Us Here on the Lunchbox Season for FIVE WHOLE YEARS!
Peace Out, Family!
